A letter to my 9 year old self

Dear Little One,
You are brilliant, that’s why you’ve been given the opportunity to study far from home. Don’t be afraid, you’ll be fine, you dad and mum will be fine, your siblings will be okay. You’ll miss them but it’s just for a while you’ll see them again. The journey is a long one, just sleep through it. Look at how beautiful the landscape is, see how the vegetation changes as you move from north to south west. This is a great opportunity to know your country.
Learn to take care of your stuff, you are responsible now. Wash your whites every day. Keep your locker orderly. Don’t misplace you buckets, plates and cutlery.
I know you don’t have much but I believe you have everything you need.
This is a new experience, you are a bit disadvantaged but you can learn. Make friends with people that are better than you and learn from them. Don’t let fear control you. Be courageous, tell the truth. You’ll meet some bullies. Don’t let them belittle you, when you can’t stand up to them report them. Have your own ideas, don’t just follow people. Get to know the people that are your true friends.
Pray always, use your gifts for the glory of God. You have God given talents.
Enjoy learning, focus on what you know. You are beautiful, never think you are not. You will grow, you will blossom like a butterfly.
God will take care of you. Some people are going to hurt you. Don’t hold on to hurts, let it go.
Dear child you dad and mum are praying for you, I know it’s hard to leave home at such a young age but it’s to you advantage. It is part of the building blocks for your future. God has great plans for you. He will help you achieve them.
Remember where you come from. You folks are depending on you. You’ll not have visitors on visiting days sometimes but when someone comes appreciate what they give you, it’s a great favor. Learn to say thank you.
Daddy is going to be fine, God will provide for him.
Those long journeys are going to be adventurous.  Angels are watching over you child. You will never be stranded, it will seem so sometimes but God will make a way out.
You’ll grow to love your school, you’ll have a lot of friends crazy ones, nice ones and funny ones. You’ll have lots of stories to share. You’ll enjoy rare experiences. It’s all for a purpose.
Enjoy yourself girl, everything is going to be alright.
Sarah
P.S. Looking back I guess it turned out alright. God was there all the way. Just as he was with you then, he will be with you now. Learn from those around you. Don’t let situations overwhelm you. Learn, life is an adventure, look at how the seasons change. Don’t let your experiences be wasted. Everything happens to make you better. Don’t be afraid, don’t let fear control you, don’t look down on yourself, you are much more than you know. God is counting on you.

God speaks to me

God speaks to me all the time
He speaks to my heart; he drops impressions in my heart.
Sometimes I write those things down and work on them but most times I ignore them and the reason is that I usually think those ideas and impressions are mine.
I don’t know how God must have been feeling about those thoughts I ignored but I have resolved to acknowledge everything He says to me. Its been too long of my being confused, too long of not knowing what to do.
He told me this month would be like the first of months.
He told me whatever I do will prosper, emphasis on whatever.
He has delivered me from shame, self consciousness and fear.
He says I should seek Him as a priority and every other thing will work out.
He told me to teach my children His word.
He told me what to pray about.
I took delivery of a new thing today.
God speaks and I say let it be unto me as You have spoken.
I want to encourage you, to trust, trust God that He hears you prayer, and trust that all the sacrifice you are making matters. Trust that he hears you when you are working and praying, when you are praying in the bathroom or on the bus, or in your car while commuting to work. You need to pray concerning those issues that come into your mind when you are quite. Receive those ideas that float into your mind.
How else does God speak to you?

My 500 words day 9

We lost a friend.
When I heard Yemisi had passed, my knees  became weak but I saw her just 2 weeks ago I kept saying. I planned to visit her as soon as she came home from the hospital. I even imagined going to pray with her and encouraging her, telling her that she’ll be okay, she’ll have her baby safe and sound but it was never to be- she didn’t come back home.
I recently read a story about a man who woke up in the morgue, will this happen to Yemisi too? Will she wake up. I think about her a lot, she was beautiful, brilliant, funny, creative, stylish. People keep asking why someone so young and pretty should just die like that.
I had the privilege of spending a lot of time with her when she moved to the flat below me, she looked so lonely so asked her to come ad visit anytime she got bored and she accepted my invitation. We talked a lot well she did most of the talking, I just listened and laughed a lot. She was really practical and insightful and she knew what she wanted oh she wanted a lot of things. She was a fashion designer, a project manager an event organizer, she wanted to be on the media, she loved reality shows. I told her all she wanted will come in good time.
We drifted apart later but we still spoke once in a while. I  know she loved her job. She loved her husband a lot too.
These past days I have thought a lot about the things we talked about. I thank God for the privilege of knowing her and being able to share those times with her. I keep wondering if she can see all of us right now. Yemisi did you know you were leaving or did it take you by surprise too? Who will decorate the estate for Christmas? Who will cook those lovely dishes you used to make? though we only tasted of the delicious aroma.
Doc looks so sad, will you visit him once in a while in his dreams? The kids that loved you so much wont even know what happened to you. They’ll just get used to not seeing you again.
Tears filled my eyes today as I looked at you portrait, they captured your smile and the brightness of your eyes.  I believe you are with God right now, that means you have overcome. We are the ones left to continue the race. Beautiful things were said about you today and it was all true. You were a gift to all who new you.
What will be said about me when I’m gone?
I will live my life truthfully, without pretence, I will keep my words, finish every thing I start, obey the promptings of the holy spirit. I will live a full life so that when I’m gone I would have finished. We would talk when I see you again, maybe pick up were we drifted apart.
You are free now girl, FLY
Yemisi Lar

My 500 words day 8

Things I learned form my reading today.
The author spoke a lot about inner intuition, the inner voice, that gut feeling. he said that everyone has got intuition but it needs to be developed. There were stories about people that followed their intuition nad made big business deals.
Developing intuition requires meditation.  He told a story about going for a meditation retreat that involved meditating from 6am to 10pm daily for a week. He said by the fourth day he started receiving insights for challenges he had been struggling with.
One interesting story he shared is about the gods, when they decided to hide information from man, they had many suggestions like the highest mountains or deepest valleys but they  finally decided to hide the information deep within man himself. You know this agrees with a scripture in the bible that  says Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water, But a man of understanding will draw it out.  Prov 20:5.
How can I draw out counsel from my inner being, the suggestion is to learn to be quiet and listen to what your heart is saying. Achieving that level of quietness will be a big deal for me.
Human beings are spirit beings we become so material that we don’t believe any thing we cannot see. But the bible says the things that are not seen are more real then the things that are seen.
While we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:18
Faith is the evidence of things not seen Heb 11:1. the evidence of things not seen is an inner knowing a strong confidence in what you believe. It is the Holy spirit that puts faith in people.
They say your brain is in its most creative stage when you are quiet.
With this information I have I intend to develop a a habit of meditation, short periods like 5 minutes first then increase the time.
There are meditation programs I can follow online. Meditation seems mystical but it looks like even business men take time to meditate; not only monks like I used to imagine. So I imagine if I start meditating today  would I start getting answers immediately? I don’t know but I will attempt and see.
Today I thought  I didn’t have anything to write, I thought I will just pass and miss out on my 500 words but somehow I remembered the book I was reading and decided to write a little about them. I have read a few books in the past two days, principles of success by Jack Canfield and Fourth Dimension volume 2 Paul Yongi Cho.  I have picked up another book Think and Grow Rich.
Do books automatically make one success? I wish, someone said you can’t get something for nothing, there is always a price to pay. I will pay, I hope you will too.
This posts are just write ups that I let out of my head, some paragraphs are from somewhere deep others are just a collection of words. I hope you find something useful in between.
Ciao people, please post a comment.
